Norfolk Sister City Association's Annual International Luncheon and Silent Auction

Sister Cities International was awarded the Global Citizen Award at Norfolk Sister City Association’s Annual International Luncheon and Silent Auction on October 3, 2021. See below for more information!

On October 3, 2021, Sister Cities International was awarded the Global Citizen Award. This award recognizes exceptional contributions by an organization to international understanding and intercultural endeavors within the region. Sister Cities International is proud of the achievement and grateful to the Norfolk Sister City Association

Norfolk Sister City Association held its Annual International Luncheon and Silent Auction at Norfolk Yacht & Country Club on October 3, 2021, which raised $3,000.

The $3,000 raised from the silent auction will support our youth education and exchange programs during the 2021-22 academic year. Our guest speaker was Fred Blanton, Virginia Representative, Sister Cities International. The topic addressed focused on international programs and relationship building during the time of COVID.

A highlight of the luncheon was the annual presentation of awards covering outstanding program; individual and corporate / organizational partner.

NSCA Program of the Year Award was presented to our Cagayan de Oro Sister City Committee. 

The Citizen Diplomacy Award recognizes exceptional contributions by an individual to international understanding and intercultural endeavors within in our region. This year’s award is presented to Gary Bonnewell, President, Norfolk Sister City Association.

 

 

Norfolk Sister City Association (NSCA) was founded in 1976 and it a member of Sister Cities International, based in Washington, D.C.   NSCA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that coordinates the activities of its ten sister cities for international understanding, friendship and cooperation by means of people to people exchanges and long-term partnerships.  Citizen diplomacy is at the root of strengthening international relationships from which partnerships grow and flourish.  NSCA develops these partnerships to bring educational, cultural, and economic benefits to Norfolk and its sister cities around the globe.  NSCA’s events and opportunities have benefited the entire Hampton Roads Community.

We educate youth about global citizenship through our Young Global Citizens Program.

We facilitate economic opportunities between Norfolk and its sister cities.
